It is universally applicable for all pipe sizes and offers a highly cost-effective solution for assessing fluid flows in larger pipes (exceeding 6" diameter). Predominantly composed of stainless steel, the orifice plate is the most prevalent material employed. When it comes to low flow rate measurement, a d/p cell featuring an integral orifice is unequivocally the optimal choice. It is imperative to note that orifice plate flow meters are exclusively recommended for clean, single-phase fluids. Even minimal build-up can result in substantial measurement inaccuracies or unit blockage. During installation, critical factors, including tap location and condition, pipe state, adequacy of straight pipe runs, gasket interference, pipe, and orifice bore misalignment, and lead line design must be meticulously observed. Moreover, potential adverse circumstances such as the blunting of the sharp edge, corrosion or erosion-induced nicks, plate warpage stemming from water hammer and dirt, and the deposition of grease or secondary phases on the orifice surface necessitate unwavering attention.
