THE ONLINE CONTINUOUS EMISSION MONITORING SYSTEM
The Online Continuous Emission Monitoring System (OCEMS) refers to automated systems that are installed at industrial facilities to continuously monitor emissions and effluents. These systems meticulously track key environmental parameters, which include:
Air pollutants: Particulate Matter (PM), Sulfur Dioxide (SO₂), Nitrogen Oxides (NOₓ), Carbon Monoxide (CO)
Water pollutants: pH, Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), and flow rate.
The data collected is transmitted in real-time to the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) servers, facilitating continuous oversight.
The OCEMS constitutes a critical component of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board’s (TNPCB) strategy to ensure real-time environmental compliance by industries across the state.
